Summit brings together Black male leaders

High Point Enterprise - 3/19/2024

Mar. 19—HIGH POINT — A local event taking place this week aims to empower Black men to achieve leadership roles in the community.

The Black Male Summit of Guilford County is staging its inaugural Community Weekend on Friday and Saturday at The Point College Prep and Leadership Academy in Jamestown. The theme of the event is "From the Block to the Board Room: We Endeavor to See Black Men Go From Surviving to Thriving."

The event will offer workshops, panel discussions, keynote speakers and networking opportunities. High Point Mayor Cyril Jefferson will serve as keynote speaker at 1 p.m. Saturday for the Catalyst for Change Awards Luncheon.

The awards luncheon will honor 10 Black men from Guilford County as Catalyst for Change honorees. The awards include recognizing three men with High Point ties — businessman and philanthropist Bob Brown, youth advocate and anti-gang organizer Greg Commander and minister and community advocate the Rev. Frank Thomas.

For more information email event organizer Reginald Holiday at director@cityhelptriad.org. Holiday is executive director of the organization City Help of the Triad, the primary organizer of the event.
